Summer Camp in Dennery North

For the children from the Dennery North Constituency Summer Camp provided an opportunity to explore, learn new things and make new friends.

The 2021 Summer Camp was spearheaded by the Ministry of Equity, Social Justice and Peoples Empowerment in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports.

The Summer Camp ran for a period of five days, Monday 9th to Friday 13th August, 2021 at the Dennery North Human Resource Centre (HRDC).

Summer Camp facilitator Claudine Louison welcomed the initiative and stated that this initiative signals the need for a Community After School Programme in the Dennery North Constituency.

The Summer camp provide a safe and fun learning environment where the children were meaningfully engaged in a range of indoor and outdoor activities including lectures, arts and craft, dance, fun sports, board games and movies.

Social Transformation Officer and Summer Camp coordinator Mrs. Esteva St. Ange Stated that the summer camp allowed for children to socialize and interact with their peers and the youth in the community, whereby they were able to learn a bit about civic responsibility. She appealed to parents within the Denney region to support the Ministry’s effort by sending their children to next year’s camp.

Minister for Equity, Social Justice and People’s Empowerment Hon. Joachim Henry embraced this venture and emphasised the need for the Ministry of Equity to facilitate the active development of vulnerable children in in the various communities around the island.

The programme focuses on the holistic development of students engaging them in personal development and enrichment activities. The Summer Camp comes to an end on August 13, 2021.
